This is a great idea for stimulating my brain on this cold, winter day. I have heard skift (or skiff) in reference to snow, but the work always makes me think of something that you see out of the corner of your eye, there and gone, or a fleeting idea. The old Norse definition is that it means a change or transition. According to the Oxford Dictionary the word has mostly gone out of use. We should start using it again, right? I especially like of Old Norse definition. Thanks, Lisa.

I also liked the Old Norse definition of change or transition, Maryellen, and as an added plus, the word is fun to say—something to keep using now that we understand the different meanings!

Rain without wind is one of the best forms of weather. Everything smells so clean and fresh!
